To the editor:
I grew up in Leavenworth and have never seen the town booming with hotels and restaurants and new stores as it is now. I’m amazed that so many historical buildings that had fallen into disrepair are now beautiful lofts and apartments. The Stove Factory, the Carnegie and 3rd Avenue School are offering a lot of options for people who live in Leavenworth or who are moving to Leavenworth.
Mark Preisinger deserves much of the credit for the improvements to our city.
I remember when people would have to stay in hotels in towns close to Leavenworth because of the lack of good hotels in our town. We want to get as many visitors as possible into our town to see the history and great businesses we have and also to spend money in our stores, restaurants and hotels. Seeing our downtown come alive again makes me proud.
I have known Mr. Preisinger most of my life and he has always been a loyal and good friend to my family. He is a great husband and father and totally devoted to his family.
His service in the military and his work ethic show that he is committed to his country and to Leavenworth. He loves Leavenworth and wants the best for all its residents.
He has been determined to get blighted properties up to code, or to get them demolished. Property values suffer when maintenance is not kept up. Neighborhoods suffer from this neglect and it brings down other people’s property values. When neighborhoods suffer from neglect, it also invites crime.
He is devoted to the safety of his fellow citizens and the increase for the police and firefighters budget is important to me.
When he suggested the littering law that the city never had before, I was happy to see that finally people would be held responsible for dropping trash on city streets.
Mr. Preisinger seems determined to listen to the people’s concerns and needs in Leavenworth. He is helping to make Leavenworth a better place to live, work and raise a family.
