Spring break is that wonderful time after winter break and before summer break where students are just itching for some time off of school. Many students jet off to the beach to spend the week binge drinking and spending all of their parents’ money. However, if you don’t have that luxury, there are hundreds of things to do at home that will make your spring break worthwhile.

If getting away and spending loads of money is your thing, then great! More power to you. Lounging on the beach is fun, but something that’s even better is saving money (something college kids aren’t too good at). You can save a ton of money this spring break by doing things locally, having friends over, or even picking up a few extra shifts at work. Those things may not seem glamorous now, but you can reward yourself in the summer with something even better.

If you’re like me, you enjoy spending your free time planning ahead, and spring break is the perfect time to do so. Getting caught up on school work and things at home can make the future relaxing. You could even take this time to plan a vacation for the summer. One more thing – cleaning. They don’t call it spring cleaning for nothing.

So as you are scrolling through Facebook this week, don’t envy those who are enjoying their time away. Pictures are deceiving, because a ton of money, time and stress go into planning a vacation. On top of all of that, you have to deal with the spring break crowd of irresponsible, beach-polluting teens. So this spring break, enjoy being at home and relaxing.
