To the editor:
When I saw the title of Dave Shearman’s column in the June 14 edition of the Times, (“Disunity being fueled by lots of pure hatred”), I was hoping it would present some cogent ideas for helping to bridge the huge division in today’s politics. I was disappointed. Very quickly, he resorted to name calling, which only leads to further division and hatred. As we approach the mid-term elections, I ask for everyone to please refrain from name calling and spreading comments or sharing social media posts that are clearly intended to inflame the situation. I have never seen anyone’s mind changed by these inflammatory comments. Let’s work together to bridge our division instead of further widening it.
