To the editor:
True – Incumbent Representative Lynn Jenkins has political endorsements. The article on Tuesday clearly reported these endorsements, but the article leaves out one very essential fact. Many of Lynn Jenkins’ endorsements came before Dennis Pyle even entered the race on April 22.
For example, while State Representative Connie O’Brien originally endorsed Jenkins, she now endorses Dennis Pyle. The fact that she – and perhaps others – changed her endorsement from Jenkins to Pyle is a relevant fact. Yet, do these political endorsements have any bearing on what the people desire?
If there is a message of 2010, it is that “We the People” are tired of business-as-usual, status quo politics. Trotting out lists of politicians who endorse you for your reelection as an incumbent demonstrates that Jenkins does not understand that message at all. Jenkins is completely out of touch with the Second District voters.  She is wasting taxpayer money on junk mail. She voted to federally fund Planned Parenthood. She has voted to raise Kansas taxes in the past. She voted against the Kansas concealed carry.  And now she has the arrogance of saying that she should be reelected because other politicians and interest groups say she should.
In contrast, Dennis Pyle is taking his case to the people and discussing issues. He is not a candidate that other “politicians” want to win because he is not seeking the endorsements of the “establishment.” He does not want to be beholden to a political machine. He represents us as the people.
Ultimately, endorsements will rule the day on Tuesday – the endorsements of each voter within the 2nd Congressional District. Dennis Pyle understands what the phrase “We the People” means.
