Leavenworth
To the editor:
My husband and I grew up in Leavenworth, but lived away most of our adult lives. During the late 70s and all through the 80s when we visited family here, there would always be big gatherings at The Towne Pub owned by my sister, Patricia Rodgers.
Imagine my surprise when I read The Towne Pub's history in your Q&A last week. The article implied the Kirbys bought the business from a "Carolyn." Carolyn and Arnie Finney owned and operated the restaurant until 1978 when they sold it to my sister, Patty, and her husband. Patty kept it until 1990 when she sold it to Sharon and Bill Kirby. She even passed on her Special Seasoning for steak when she turned it over.
By the way, the dishwasher, Keith Carr, was with Patty all those years as well. The Towne Pub does indeed have wonderful memories for so many of us. While new ones are being created, let's not leave a void in the past.
