My name is Mike Carney and I am the senior department service officer for the Disabled American Veteran’s organization (DAV). The DAV was established to assist veterans and their family members in filing disability claims for benefits from Veteran Affairs as a result of medical disabilities that occurred or were aggravated by military service.
The Leavenworth Times has graciously allowed me to submit monthly articles pertaining to veterans and their eligible family members with hopes of enlightening them in the VA claims process.
Many veterans are not aware that they may be entitled to benefits. I will focus on entitlements in my articles and indicate common errors and misconceptions in the claims process.
