- Kansas Teacher of the Year
- Colleen Mitchell spoke with second-graders Ashley Whalen, Tatiana Herskind and Madison Lavery Wednesday at Anthony Elementary School. Mitchell is a regional finalist in the Kansas Teacher of the Year Program. She teaches in Emporia. She was part of a 2013 Kansas Teacher of the Year team that visited Leavenworth public schools. The students were portraying Rosa Parks as part of a wax museum project.
