Leavenworth High and University of Saint Mary alum Grant Greenberg has signed a contract to play with the KC Buzz in the new North American Premier Basketball League.

Greenberg graduated from USM as the school and the Kansas Collegiate Athletic Conference’s all-time leading scorer while also becoming the No. 1 point producer from any Kansas university/college, wrapping up his career with 2,993 points.

“Yes, I will be playing for the KC Buzz,” Greenberg said. “All the details (of the contract) haven’t been finalized yet. Practice starts in December and the season starts in January.”

The Buzz will be coached by Calvin Thompson, a former KU Jayhawk player and play a 32-game regular season schedule with the league expected to open play with eight teams Jan. 1.

Other teams will be located in Yakima, Washington, Mesquite, Nevada, Owensboro, Kentucky, Akron, Ohio, Rochester and Albany, New York and Vancouver, British Columbia.

The Buzz will play its home games at Municipal Auditorium.

Other notable players include former Jayhawk Sherron Collins and fellow KU alum Kevin Young.
