Volleyball players from Lansing competed in the Girls’ Junior National Championships in Detroit June 25-July 4.
There were 17 girls from Lansing on 12 teams in the tournament.
The tournament fielded 184 teams with girls ages 11-17. The teams were split across different divisions based on qualification with National Division the highest for 11-12 and Open Division the highest for 13-17.
In the 11-under group, Mikenna Matzeder played for Dynasty 11s and finished 5th in National Division. The 12U group had Virginia Van Der Werff for KC Power 12s and Anna Laincz and Tabor Scanlon with the ASICS Mavs 12-2.
KC Power finished 17th in the National Division and the ASICS Mavs finished 21st in the American Division
Five girls in the 14U group competed with Caitlin Bishop, Olivia Mae Van Der Werff, and Skylar Weaver on KC Power 14s.
Iyanna Jackson was on Dynasty 14s and McKenzie Moburg was on Team KC 14s. KC Powers finished 19th and Dynasty was 9th in the Open Division.
Team KC was 5th in the American Division.
Kamryn Farris and Taylor Cackler competed in the 15U group. Farris was on KC Power 15s that finished 13th in Open Division. Cackler was on Dynasty 15-2 and finished 13th in the American Division.
Amelia Van Der Werff and Karli Schmidt finished 31st in Open Division for KC Power 16s.
Ally Hinkley was on ASICS Mavs 16-3 which finished 43rd in the American Division.
Samantha Moburg and the Highlands 16-1 finished 5th in the American Division.
Kennedy Farris and Rachel Fairbanks finished 21st in the Open Division for KC Powers 17s.
