The 46th annual Leavenworth Labor Day Open Tennis Tournament will take place this weekend. 

The tournament will feature tennis matches across various age groups and pairings. The matches will take place at David Brewer Park, Cody Park and Leavenworth High School. 

Registration is now closed to participate, but fans can still come out and watch the participants which include the previous two men’s open champions Chris Chapman and Anil Patel. Others of note include members of the Lansing Lions High School team as well. 

The event will be split up across various divisions based on age group and gender, as well as mixed groups.

The adult men’s and women’s open singles begin at 8 a.m. Saturday. The 18-under singles will begin at 8:30 a.m. and the 40-over and 55-over singles at 9 a.m.

Doubles play will begin at 1:30 p.m. followed by mixed doubles at 3 p.m. and parent-child doubles at 4 p.m.

A picnic will also take place on Saturday at David Brewer Park. The food is included in the participant’s entry fee and non-participants can partake in the picnic as well for a $5 fee.
