The annual tennis tournament in Leavenworth took place over the weekend.

In the 46th Leavenworth Labor Day Open, more than 100 tennis players of various ages and skill levels competed.

There were a total of 147 entries across the three-day tournament.

Rahul Manoah won the men’s singles championship and Alice Edwards was victorious on the women’s side. 

The doubles championship was won by Franco Oliva and Agustin Velasco. Manoah, Oliva and Velasco were three of the eight players participating from Northwest Missouri State University. 

Other winners include Tony Williams in the men’s 40 and under single, George Morton in men’s 55, Joshua Bunen in boy’s 16 single, Jeremy Zurbuchen in boy’s 18, Gabriella Scarcelli in girl’s 16 and Trinity Hall in girl’s 18.

In the doubles, Ken Dozier and Greg Mupingo were victorious in men’s 40 doubles, Gary Shupp and Tom Alexander in men’s 55, Jennifer Peliatz and Alice Edwards women’s 40 and Gary Shipp and Ann Broxterman in mixed doubles. 

Alex and Jesse Sherer were the winners in the parent-child doubles.
