It was an off night offensively for the Immaculata boys’ basketball team Friday.

The Raiders only squeezed 23 points against visiting Maur Hill-Mount Academy and lost 49-23.

“They just played very aggressive defense,” Immaculata coach Mike Connelly said. “Our shots weren’t going down and we couldn’t get anything going inside because they have two very good players in there.”

The game started out normal enough and after one quarter, the Raiders trailed 13-8. Yet then the Ravens began to pour in points, 11 in the second and 17 in the third period.

While the visitors did that, Imac accumulated just nine points total and after being outscored 8-6 in the final quarter, the Raiders suffered the double-digit loss.

“We wanted to take our time and make them work a lot on defense but when we had shots, we didn’t make them,” Connelly said. “They took the rebound and used their transition against us.”

Sean Murray led Immaculata in scoring with 14 points while Connor Schmidling added three. Josh Boeppler, Adam Sewell and Larry Hildebrandt each contributed two.

The Raiders will be on the road Tuesday against Troy at 8:30 p.m.
