Leavenworth boys' bowling breezes by Free State

With the three top scorers on the day, the Leavenworth boys’ bowling team made quick work of visiting Lawrence Free State Wednesday.

The Pioneers amassed 2,395 points compared to Free State’s 2,167, cruising to its third home win of the year.

“For our home matches this year we are doing very well as a team,” Leavenworth coach Shad Langfoss said.

The girls also competed, coming in second place with a 1,585. Free State was first with a 1,820, Blue Valley third with a 1,477 and Blue Valley West took fourth with a 1,310.

Jeremy Crowder was the boys’ high scorer with a 614 series, followed by Shawn Robichaux’s 586 and Levi Denney’s 581. Steven Anders added a series score of 516 while Mark Bane added a 512 and Joseph Singletary a 381.

The Lady Pioneers were led by Mallory Scherer hitting a 412 series. Next was Megan Besmer with a 405, Mary Jo Mowery with a 375 and Alisha Claypool with a 362. Dani Sigman contributed a 357 series score and Amanda Campbell finished with a 279.
