Team: Lansing High School volleyball

Last year's record: 37-9

Coach: Julie Slater

Coach's record: 687-218

Key returners: Junior outside hitter Lori Angello, senior middle blocker Katie Delich, senior right-side hitter Allie Ewing, senior defensive specialist Katie Jensen, senior defensive specialist Kiersten Kirkendoll and senior libero Sara Slater

Newcomers to watch: Sophomore setter Bri Lozenski, junior setter Haylee Marsteller, junior right-side hitter Tawnee Hall and junior middle blocker Gabby Hacker

Team Outlook:
Strengths — The Lions have strong defensive players and a powerful, balanced offense.
Weaknesses — Slater says she always thinks the team could work more on blocking and hitting consistency.

Big games: Both St. Thomas Aquinas and St. James Academy come to Lansing on Oct. 7, setting the stage for a showdown of volleyball powerhouses.

Coach says: “We will be a strong, competitive team. The girls have been working hard to carry on the great tradition that we have. They are trying to step up and fill the void of the four good seniors — Bre Sanders, Madison Brandt, Rachel Milnark, and Lisa Angello — that we lost to graduation. They are determined, hard-working young ladies who are extremely competitive. It will be a fun year!” - Slater on the 2010 Lansing volleyball team
