The Immaculata High School powerlifting team competed at the Horton Invitational on Saturday, the girls’ team earning second place out of the 15 teams in attendance. Three Immaculata lifters — Ashley O’Neil, Sara Moreno and Alan Gilbert — took silver in their respective divisions.
Seniors Ashley O’Neil and Gilbert each took second place overall in their weight categories, and Moreno used a first-place effort in bench press to pace her to a second overall. Bridget O’Neil also placed first in bench press and third overall.
Mary Thorne was fourth in her division and lifted personal bests in bench press, squats and cleans. Danielle Schmidt also had personal bests in squats and cleans.
The next action for the Raiders powerlifters will be March 27 when they travel to WaKeeney for the 2A state meet.
