U.S. Rep. Lynn Jenkins, R-2nd Dist., today officially filed to run for re-election to the U.S. House of Representatives at the Kansas secretary of state's office. In doing so, Jenkins placed her name on the Aug. 3 Republican ballot.
"When I ran for Congress in 2008, I felt Washington was a mess," Jenkins stated. "After two years of Democrat rule under President Obama and Speaker Pelosi, that place is now a full blown disaster. We are $13 trillion in debt, our economy continues to falter, and the folks who run Washington, D.C. refuse to even discuss a budget, let alone one that's balanced," Jenkins said in a release. "There's no question that the D.C. establishment's business as usual has to change. With a strong, grassroots campaign, we will address the pressing issues facing our nation and make some big changes come November. Clearly, the folks of the 2nd District have a message; Washington-style spend and borrow politics will no longer cut it."
