One person was taken to the hospital as a precaution following a crash involving a FedEx truck Friday in southwest Leavenworth County, according to a report from the Sheriff’s Office.
The crash was reported shortly after 4 p.m. Friday west of 258th Street on Evans Road.
A 39-year-old man reportedly had been driving east in a FedEx truck. Authorities believe the man was driving left of the center of the roadway and too fast for conditions. He lost control of the truck while traveling around a curve, according to the report.
He and the driver of a westbound Ford Econoline van tried to avoid a collision. But the rear driver-side portion of the truck struck the front driver-side area of the van. This caused significant damage to the van.
The truck’s driver and the 54-year-old man who was driving the van told authorities they were not injured. But a 46-year-old man who was a passenger in the van recently had undergone back surgery. He was taken to Lawrence Memorial Hospital as a precaution, according to the report.
All parties indicated they had been wearing seat belts at the time of the crash.
