Two people suffered minor injuries Friday when a car crashed into a Leavenworth home, a police spokesman said.

The crash was reported at 4:20 p.m. Friday on Second Avenue.

Leavenworth Police Chief Pat Kitchens said a 26-year-old Lansing woman was driving north in a 2006 Ford Fusion. She swerved to avoid hitting an animal that ran in front of her vehicle. The car went off the road and struck the house at 1805 Second Ave.

The car’s two passengers, a 24-year-old man and 17-year-old boy, were not wearing seat belts and suffered minor injuries, Kitchens said.

“The house received some damage that we’re still evaluating,” he said.

He said the only citations that have been written so far are for seat belt violations.
