After more than 20 years of service to the city of Basehor in various roles, Mayor David Breuer has officially left public service. Perhaps appropriately on his 70th birthday, his friends, family and members of the Basehor community gathered at an event to mark the milestone.

Lieutenant Colonel Richard Jerome Scherberger, United States Army, Retired, died 21 December 2021 after a heroic battle with Adenoid Cystic Carcinoma. Surviving Richard is his wife, Vicky Lynn Hickerson Scherberger, son, Scott Douglas, wife Gina, grandchildren Mia Grace and Caden, all Madison, AL residents, and his recuse dogs Baxter and Bailey.
LEAVENWORTH - Billie Mae Gibbs Sheppard, 96, passed away Friday, December 10, 2021 in Leavenworth, Kansas. She was born September 3, 1925 in Dallas, Texas to Ernest and Katherine Maxey Gibbs. Billie graduated from Lufkin High School, Lufkin, Texas and Sam Houston State University with a degree in Education. She also obtained her real estate license.
