City discusses withdrawing from LCDC
When they met this week, Leavenworth city commissioners discussed possibly withdrawing from the Leavenworth County Development Corporation and establishing a business license requirement.No formal action was taken. The discussion took place Tuesday during a study session of the City Commission.The discussion came as Assistant City Manager Penny Holler reviewed the city's economic development partners which includes LCDC.LCDC receives funding from the cities of Leavenworth, Lansing and Tonganoxie as well as from private-sector members such as area businesses.

The city of Leavenworth withdrew a motion for a temporary restraining order against CoreCivic after the company agreed not to house any inmates at its Leavenworth facility before June 1.
