A Basehor man faces two charges of sexually abusing children, according to court records.

William L. Battle Jr., 47, is charged in Leavenworth County District Court with two counts of aggravated criminal sodomy.

The crimes are alleged to have occurred between 2014 and early 2016 in Basehor. Court documents identify the victims as two children who were born in 2002 and 2008.

A document filed by the prosecution indicates that Battle has served on the homeowners association of the Basehor community where both he and one of the children live.

Battle is next scheduled to appear in court Feb. 8 for a status conference.

Battle remains in custody at the Leavenworth County Jail. A judge has set bond at $1.5 million, according to court records.
