A popular music series comes to a close this weekend in downtown Leavenworth.

The Free Summer Concert Series, a production of Leavenworth Main Street, will feature Abbey Road on Saturday night at Haymarket Square.

The concert will be from 7-10 p.m. at the downtown venue on 7th and Cherokee streets.

Abbey Road, a cover band that plays songs made popular by the Beatles, will be making their third appearance at the Free Summer Concert Series in Leavenworth.

“Abbey Road is definitely a great way to close out our Free Summer Concert Series,” said Marlee Marshall, assistant director of Leavenworth Main Street. “They are a fun band and people will know the songs and can sing along.”

The music series is held on the second Saturday in June, July and August.

In June, the concert series featured RetroActive Lite! In July, the band Dating Sarah was the featured performers.

“The concerts have been well received,” Marshall said. “It’s family friendly. You can bring your friends and family, even your dog if it’s on a leash. … It’s just another way to get people to downtown Leavenworth.”

Including the attendance figures Saturday night, Marshall said close to 1,000 people will have attended the concerts this summer.

Food and beverages will be available to purchase at the event.

Attendees are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or a blanket to sit on as seating at the venue is limited.

Coolers are not allowed in the event area.

While the concert series is coming to an end, it’s not the end of free concerts in downtown Leavenworth this summer.

Leavenworth Main Street will host the cover band M80s at the Hog Wild BBQ contest Sept. 7-8. The block party will take place in the 200 block of Cherokee Street and feature games and activities for children, contests, live music and the barbecue contest.
