Laughs are in the forecast this weekend in downtown Leavenworth in an event that will benefit veterans in need.
Three comedians with the group Veterans of Comedy will perform Saturday night at VFW Post 56 in a dinner show.
The dinner begins at 6 p.m. and the show starts at 7:30 p.m.
The show, titled “Laughsgiving,” will feature Tai Fu Panda, Jerad Langley and David Scott of the comedy troupe.
The dinner will feature steaks, baked potatoes, vegetables and rolls.
Proceeds from the event will go to assist veterans in the Leavenworth area, said show organizer Tom Poulter. He said proceeds will go to helping veterans with utility bills, rent and food.
Poulter said this is the first time VFW Post 56 has hosted a comedy show. He is hoping to attract at least 100 people to the event.
“It sounds like fun,” he said. “Let’s start the holiday season out with a bang and have a good laugh. It’s going to be a good show.”
The event is open to the public.
Poulter said depending on the success on the inaugural show, VFW Post 56 may try to host more comedy shows in the future.
Admission is $15 per person for the show or $30 per person for the dinner and show.
Tickets can be obtained at VFW Post 56, 523 Cherokee St., daily after 4 p.m.
Tickets for just the show can be purchased at the door on the night of the event.
