Leavenworth authorities are investigating a shooting from over the weekend that left two people wounded, a police spokesman said.

The Leavenworth Police Department initially received a report of a disturbance at 3:26 a.m. Saturday in the 400 block of Terrace Road. The Police Department then received multiple calls regarding shots being fired in that area.

The police were provided with descriptions of two vehicles that may have been used by people involved in the incident. Officers stopped a vehicle matching one of the descriptions as it was being driven from the scene, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

Inside the vehicle was a 26-year-old man who had a gunshot wound to one of his feet. He was transported by Leavenworth County EMS to the hospital.

Later, police were contacted about a 32-year-old woman who was being treated at Saint Luke’s Cushing Hospital for a gunshot wound to the abdomen. Police believe this woman also was a victim of the incident on Terrace Road.

The injuries of the two victims are not considered to be life-threatening, Nicodemus said.

He said police are investigating to determine what happened.
