A Leavenworth man was arrested after he allegedly cut another man with a knife during an altercation early Monday morning, a police spokesman said.

A Leavenworth man was arrested after he allegedly cut another man with a knife during an altercation early Monday morning, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 12:24 a.m. in the 700 block of Kiowa Street. Officers were called to that location for what was described as a disturbance.

“The suspect and the victim became involved in an argument after the suspect yelled at the victim’s mother,” said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The suspect, a 19-year-old man, allegedly cut the victim across his abdomen.

The victim, a 54-year-old man, was transported to the hospital. His injuries are not considered life-threatening, according to Nicodemus.

The suspect was arrested for an allegation of aggravated battery.
