An Arkansas man has pleaded guilty to robbing a drug store in downtown Leavenworth, according to a prosecution official.

Billy Dee Prestidge, 24, Hot Springs, Arkansas, pleaded guilty Tuesday in Leavenworth County District Court to aggravated robbery, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson.

The charge stemmed from a May 15, 2016, robbery at Kare Pharmacy, 426 Delaware St.

Prestidge reportedly entered the business with his face covered by a mask. He pointed a gun at employees and demanded money and drugs. He ran from store with money and prescription drugs.

Investigators with the Leavenworth Police Department were able to obtain evidence that implicated Prestidge in the robbery, according to Thompson.

“We would not have obtained this conviction without the diligence of the Leavenworth Police Department,” Thompson said in a news release. “This is another example of what we face as a consequence of the opioid epidemic.”

Sentencing in the case is scheduled for Jan. 11.
