Authorities are investigating an incident in which shots were fired at an occupied vehicle in downtown Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

No injuries were reported.

The incident was reported at 2:38 a.m. Friday, but the incident occurred earlier that morning, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

A 41-year-old man reported to police that he was seated in his car in a parking lot in the 100 block of Shawnee Street when two men approached. The men reportedly knocked on one of the windows of the vehicle.

The victim told police he was scared so he started to drive away. The two men reportedly fired shots, resulting in two bullet holes in the vehicle, Nicodemus said.

Nicodemus said the Leavenworth Police Department received several calls immediately after the shots were fired. But at that time, officers were unable to locate the victim because he had left the area. He later contacted police about the incident.

The deputy chief said police are working with the victim to identify the suspects.
