A weekend chock full of holiday events is about to begin.

It all starts early Saturday morning with the big guy himself during the annual Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department’s Breakfast with Santa at the Riverfront Community Center, 123 S. Esplanade St.

Tickets are $6 for adults and $5 for children in advance. Tickets can be purchased at the door on the day of the event.

The breakfast will include pancakes, sausage and juice.

Jeff Adams will be the disc jockey. Entertainment will be provided by Katie’s Acrobat and Dance Studio, Deena Shroyer School of Dance and Sagasu Family Martial Arts.

A professional photographer will be on hand to take photos of the children.

The Leavenworth County Running Club will host its annual Ugly Sweater Run/Walk beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday at Lansing Elementary School, 450 W. Mary St.

Attendees are encouraged to wear their ugliest sweater.

The cost is a $5 donation and/or can goods that will be donated to the Leavenworth Assistance Center to help local families in need of a holiday meal.

The event is a fun run/walk and will not be officially timed.

The annual St. Paul Lutheran Church’s German Christmas Market will be held from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at the Riverfront Community Center.

Numerous vendors will be on hand displaying their crafts as well as live entertainment.

Children 3-13 years old are invited to do their own Christmas shopping at the annual C.W. Parker Carousel Museum’s Children’s Small Mall.

The event will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the museum, 320 S. Esplanade St. Another session will be held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday.

Parents pay $3, $5 or $7 for each gift on a child’s gift list. With the guidance of Santa’s elves, little shoppers can select gifts for their family and friends.

A wide variety of gifts are available. Gifts will be wrapped and labeled.

Children will receive a free ride on the 1913 carousel, a bag of reindeer food, movies and admission to the Kid’s Craft Corner.

Twin Oaks Health and Rehabilitation, 757 W. Eisenhower Road, will host its Jolly Holiday Family Meal at noon Saturday.

Attendees are asked to bring a dessert to share.

New Hope Assembly of God, 511 Delaware St., will host its annual Christmas Picture Outreach from 2-5 p.m. Saturday.

The event is free and open to the public.

A professional photographer will be on hand to take pictures.

Local musicians will perform holiday music in a free concert from 2-3 p.m. Sunday at the Leavenworth Public Library, 417 Spruce St.

The Richard Allen Cultural Center and Museum will host its annual Christmas Tea from 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the Riverfront Community Center. The cost is $15 for adults and $7 for children.

The city of Lansing will host its 32nd annual Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting Ceremony at 6 p.m. Sunday at Lansing Middle School, 220 Lion Lane.

Mayor Mike Smith will accept donations for the Mayor’s Christmas Tree program.
