A rural Leavenworth County home was destroyed over the weekend by a fire, a fire department official said.

The fire was reported at 11:36 p.m. Saturday at 29534 195th St. A firefighter suffered a minor injury at the scene, according to Todd Farley, chief of Leavenworth County Fire District No. 1.

A passerby saw smoke coming from the home. The owner of the home was in a barn at the time and did not realize the house was on fire.

Firefighters from Alexandria and Kickapoo Townships provided assistance to members of Fire District No. 1.

The house is considered a total loss, Farley said.

He said the fire is not considered “suspicious.”
