A man reported being attacked and robbed while walking in downtown Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

A man reported being attacked and robbed while walking in downtown Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 7:52 p.m. Friday in the area of Shawnee and Seventh streets.

The 22-year-old man reported that he was walking along Shawnee Street when a vehicle stopped in the area. The driver waved the victim over to the vehicle, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The driver reportedly got out of the vehicle and started punching the victim, who was knocked to the ground. The driver reportedly took the victim’s shoes, a hooded sweatshirt and a wallet.

The driver then got back into his vehicle and drove away, according to Nicodemus.

The suspect was described only as a white man who drove a dark-colored car.

The victim reportedly had several concert tickets in his wallet that were worth about $600. Damage to his eyeglasses also resulted in an estimated loss of about $600, according to Nicodemus.
