A driver left the scene after a vehicle overturned early Friday morning in southeast Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

A driver left the scene after a vehicle overturned early Friday morning in southeast Leavenworth County, according to an official with the Sheriff’s Office.

The crash was reported at 5:55 a.m. at 16400 Kansas Avenue. A homeowner at that location found a 1992 Ford F-150 in a ditch. It is believed the accident occurred sometime between 3-5:30 a.m. Friday.

A mailbox was damaged in the crash, according to Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

Deputies with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office could not find any occupants of the vehicle. They attempted to contact the vehicle’s owner, who lives in Tonganoxie, by phone but were unsuccessful.

The investigation is said to be ongoing.
