A man who was identified as a person of interest in connection to a shooting in Easton is in custody in Nebraska, an official with the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office said.

Daniel W. Owens, 43, was taken into custody in Lincoln, Nebraska, at about 5 p.m. Friday, said Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley.

Sherley said Owens is being held on a warrant for a charge of attempted murder.

According to County Attorney Todd Thompson, Owens has been charged with attempted intentional second-degree murder.

Authorities will seek the extradition of Owens to Leavenworth County.

Owens was named a person of interest in connection to a shooting that was reported Wednesday morning at 215 S. Third St.

Authorities believe the victim, a 58-year-old man, was wounded during an altercation at the residence, according to Sherley.
