A Leavenworth man has pleaded guilty to battering a man he saw with his ex-girlfriend, according to a prosecution official.

Stephen Wayne Cox, 37, pleaded guilty Monday in Leavenworth County District Court to one count of aggravated battery.

Cox was charged following a May 2016 incident in Leavenworth.

Cox was driving a pickup truck when he saw his former girlfriend in a vehicle with another man in the area of Broadway and Spruce streets. Cox reportedly followed the other vehicle and threw what was described as a crowbar-like object at the car.

In the area of 20th and Spruce streets, the man in the other vehicle got out of the car and picked up the object that had been thrown. Cox struck the man with his pickup truck and then fled from the area, according to County Attorney Todd Thompson.

The victim suffered several broken ribs and a broken leg.

Sentencing for Cox is scheduled for May 17.
