The Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office is asking for the public’s help in an investigation of a body that was found earlier this week.

The Sheriff’s Office has not released many details. But Leavenworth County Undersheriff Jim Sherley said the body of a man in his mid-20s was found Tuesday morning off of a roadway north of the Kickapoo community, which is in northern Leavenworth County. The body was reported at 7:40 a.m.

Sherley confirmed authorities have identified the body. He said the Sheriff’s Office was still in the process of notifying family Wednesday afternoon.

An autopsy was performed Wednesday, but Sherley said he could not release information about the possible cause of death.

He said the investigation is ongoing and more information will be released as the case moves forward.
