A man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly crashed into a house in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

A man was arrested early Friday morning after he allegedly crashed into a house in north Leavenworth, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 12:08 a.m. in the 500 block of North Seventh Street.

The driver reportedly attempted to make a "sliding U-turn" to park a Dodge Challenger, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

"He lost control and crashed into the house," Nicodemus said.

The man was arrested for allegedly driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and reckless driving.

Leavenworth firefighters assisted five people out of the home, according to Mark DeMaranville, division chief of prevention for the Leavenworth Fire Department.

The American Red Cross provided them with temporary housing assistance.

No injuries were reported, according to Nicodemus.
