A Leavenworth High School graduate was killed earlier this month in Missouri, according to authorities and family members.

David Dalton, 36, was fatally shot in the head March 7 in Fulton, Missouri.

Dalton, who formerly lived in Lansing, graduated from Leavenworth High School in 2001, according to family members.

Dalton’s girlfriend, Kalesha M. Peterson, has been charged in connection to his death.

Peterson reportedly told police she accidentally shot Dalton while the two of them were re-enacting a scene from a movie, according to a probable cause affidavit that was prepared by Lt. Jason Barnes of the Fulton Police Department.

Peterson reportedly admitted to being intoxicated at the time.

Peterson is charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon, according to a written complaint signed by Christopher Wilson, prosecuting attorney for Callaway County, Missouri.
