Forecasters are predicting the Missouri River will crest in the Leavenworth area at a depth of 29.2 feet. And the anticipated timing of this has changed a little.

The river is now expected to reach its crest Friday evening, according to the National Weather Service.

The Missouri River has been above its flood stage for a week in the Leavenworth area.

The river reaches its minor flood stage at a depth of 20 feet. It reaches its moderate flood stage at 24 feet.

At 3 p.m. Wednesday, the river was at 25.96 feet.

The Leavenworth area is scheduled to remain under a flood warning until March 30, according to the National Weather Service.
