Members of the public will have the opportunity next week to meet the new principal of Pleasant Ridge High School.

Lacy Warren has been hired to serve as the high school’s next principal.

She will be replacing longtime principal Andy Metsker, who is retiring at the end of the school year.

“I’m looking forward to meeting the students, meeting the staff as well as just the community members and parents,” Warren said.

Members of the public are invited to meet with Warren from 5-6 p.m. Tuesday at Pleasant Ridge High School, 32500 Easton Road.

Warren will officially begin her duties as the PRHS principal in mid July.

She currently is employed by the Topeka school district as the principal of Shaner Early Learning Academy.

Warren said part of her duties in that job was to oversee the opening of the new preschool center last fall.

While she currently works at a preschool, Warren said she also has worked at the elementary, middle school and high school levels.

Before taking her current position in Topeka, Warren was a high school principal in La Monte, Missouri.

Warren said she applied for the Pleasant Ridge job because she “wanted to get back into high school.”

“I’m looking forward to just being able to work again with high school students,” she said.

Warren said she also is looking forward to working with teachers to help provide the best education possible so students can be productive and successful in life.

Warren grew up in southwest Missouri. She earned bachelor and master degrees from Benedictine College in Atchison. And she has a specialist degree from William Woods University, Fulton, Missouri.

Warren previously worked for the Atchison school system. Her family moved back to Atchison last year after her husband took a job with the city government.

Warren said she interviewed for the job of PRHS principal in February.

Superintendent Tim Beying said Warren was interviewed by administrators and members of the Easton Board of Education.

“We’re really excited to welcome her to the Pleasant Ridge family,” Beying said.

The superintendent said Warren will have big shoes to fill as she replaces Metsker. But Beying said he is confident the new principal will fit in and be fantastic.
