Two robbers fled from a Leavenworth home after a shot was fired by a resident, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 10:01 p.m. Saturday in the 3400 block of Iowa Street.

The suspects, who were armed with handguns, reportedly approached a man as he was leaving his home.

“They forced him inside the residence,” said Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

A woman who had remained inside the residence reportedly heard commotion and armed herself with a handgun.

The woman confronted the two suspects and fired a shot. The suspects fled from the residence, according to Nicodemus.

No injuries were reported. The suspects reportedly took the male victim’s wallet and cell phone.

The suspects were described as black men who were dressed in black clothing. They wore masks over their faces.

Nicodemus said police searched for the suspects but were unable to locate them.
