A Leavenworth man reported that he was robbed as he was returning home, a police spokesman said.

A Leavenworth man reported that he was robbed as he was returning home, a police spokesman said.

The incident was reported at 9:20 p.m. Thursday in the 700 block of Ottawa Street.

The victim reported that he was entering his apartment when someone approached him from behind. The suspect placed what the victim believed was a handgun to the back of his head. The suspect demanded money, according to Maj. Dan Nicodemus, deputy chief of the Leavenworth Police Department.

The victim gave the suspect his wallet. The suspect fled on foot.

The suspect was described as a black man who wore blue shorts, a blue shirt and a blue hat.
