Wollman Aquatic Center will be the site of the annual Dad & Me Campout this weekend.

Attendees are encouraged to bring a small tent and enjoy a night of swimming, games and star-gazing.

The event begins at 8 p.m. Saturday and concludes at 8 a.m. Sunday.

A light breakfast will be served Sunday morning.

Games will be set up around the pool area and campers will be able to swim late in the evening. Staff will make s’mores for everyone during the night.

Participants are welcome to bring their own snacks and drinks. No alcohol is allowed.

Attendees who do not have a tent are welcome to sleep out in the open air on a blanket or sleeping bag.

Certified lifeguards are scheduled and will be on deck during the swimming Saturday night. An assistant pool manager will be with the campers from 8 p.m. Saturday until 8 a.m. Sunday.

The cost is $25 for fathers (or mothers) and one child. The cost is an additional $5 for each extra child or adult.

The event is a production of the Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department.

Nancy Baker, recreation supervisor for special events/aquatics at the Leavenworth Parks and Recreation Department, said the number of participants varies each year. She said flyers about the event were sent home with students before school was let out for summer.

She said there are already 25 people signed up for the event.

In the event of rain over the weekend, the rain date for the event is June 22.

The Wollman Aquatic Center is located at 1300 Shawnee St.
