Circus is coming to Wamego

WAMEGO — The Papa Moostouski Bovinian Circus and Freakshow will be 1 p.m. Saturday, July 20, at the Columbian Theatre, 521 Lincoln Ave., Wamego.

Cost is free.

Ottawa man sentenced in sex case

OTTAWA — Jean Luc Morris, 21, of Ottawa, was sentenced by Franklin County District Court Judge Douglas P. Witteman on Monday to serve 59 months in the Kansas Department of Corrections after being convicted of sexual exploitation of a child.

He will be subject to life-time parole with electronic monitoring upon release from KDOC. The judge also recommended that Morris have no contact with the victim and obtain a sex offender evaluation and follow all of the recommendations of that evaluation as part of his sentence.

Morris will be required to register as a sex offender for 25 years.

The Franklin County Attorney’s Office and the Ottawa Police Department were involved in the investigation of the case.
