The city of Lansing is sponsoring a Kids’ Outdoor Movie Nite event this evening at Kenneth W. Bernard Community Park, 15650 Gilman Road.

The animated film “The Secret Life of Pets” will be shown for the event.

The movie will begin around 7:30 p.m., according to Tim Dossey, event and marketing coordinator for Lansing.

He said the event will take place next to the playground at the park. An outdoor movie screen will be set up for the event.

Dossey said other activities will be available for children to enjoy before the start of the movie including music and face painting. Popcorn and cotton candy also will be available.

While the Kids’ Outdoor Movie is free, Dossey said donations will be accepted. The money will be used to support an upcoming event.

“We are accepting donations for the Youth Entrepreneurship Challenge,” he said.

That event will take place next year at Lansing High School.
