Dates have been changed for a public comment period for a new comprehensive plan for Leavenworth County.

Dates have been changed for a public comment period for a new comprehensive plan for Leavenworth County.

The online public comment period had been scheduled to begin later this week. But the public comment period is now slated for Feb. 14-28, according to a news release from Krystal Voth, interim planning and zoning director for the county.

A draft copy of the plan already has been prepared. But consultants working on the plan intend to update it based on feedback from county commissioners.

And they intend to place an updated version on a website for the public comment period.

But commissioners have not finished their review of the draft of the plan, and this has resulted in the delay.

Commissioners discussed the plan last week during a work session. And they intend to discuss the plan again Wednesday.

Once updated, the plan will be posted to lvcountyplan.com for the public comment period.

The comprehensive plan is intended to address issues related to infrastructure, land use and urban growth in the county.

Officials who are working on the comprehensive plan also have scheduled an open house from 5-7 p.m. Feb. 18 at the Lansing Community Center, 800 First Terrace.

People who have questions about the comprehensive plan can email compplan@leavenworthcounty.gov or call Voth at 913-684-0461.
