No injuries were reported following a house fire early Tuesday in north Leavenworth.

The fire was reported at 4:25 a.m. in the 600 block of Osage Street.

“It appears it originated on the porch,” Leavenworth Fire Marshal Andy Brooks.

The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.

Brooks said no one was living at the residence, but items had been left inside the house.

Brooks said there was a “large volume of fire” when firefighters arrived on scene. And because of dry grass and leaves on the property, the fire was spreading to areas around the structure.

Brooks said no neighboring structures were damaged.

He said firefighters had to attack the flames in what he described as a defensive posture at one point because of concern about safety of the interior of the structure.

“The roof and dormers started to sag so they pulled guys out,” he said.
