This Saturday only, the city of Leavenworth is offering free household hazardous waste disposal from 8:30 a.m. to noon behind the Municipal Service Center at Lawrence Avenue and Pennsylvania Street, according to a news release from the city.

This event was scheduled to make up for the city's Spring Cleanup, which was canceled in April due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Household hazardous waste includes anything that should not be disposed of down the drain or in the trash. Everything disposed of Saturday should be labeled in its original container with no leaking. Items that will be accepted include automotive products but no motor oil, batteries, CFL light bulbs, fertilizers, flammables, fuels, hazardous cleaners, hazardous liquids, lawn and garden products, paint, pesticides, photographic chemicals, pool chemicals, solvents and thinners.
