Two boys were found shot to death inside a home in rural Leavenworth and two young girls were allegedly abducted on Saturday, according to Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office Undersheriff Jim Sherley
The names of the boys found dead in the home have not been released. Sherley said their ages were believed to be 14 and 11 years old.
An Amber Alert was issued for 7-year-old Nora Jackson and 3-year-old Aven Jackson, who are believed to have been abducted from a home in the 14900 block of Hillside Road in Leavenworth.
The suspect in the abduction has been identified as 40-year-old Donald Ray Jackson Jr.
He may be driving a 2008 Honda Accord with Kansas license plate 266MXB.
Jackson was stopped near the Oklahoma border at 12:30 p.m. Saturday with the girls in the back seat, but was released.
Jackson may be in Oklahoma, Arkansas or Texas.
Sherley said multiple law enforcement agencies are involved in the investigation of the case.
He said authorities are "still trying to ascertain" what led to the death of the boys and the abduction of the girls.
He said one of the children did not show up for a local youth soccer game and a member of the family came to the home on Hillside, discovered the crime and notified authorities.
Sherley said officers arrived at the home about 1:30 p.m. and an Amber Alert went out soon after.
