But Leavenworth County will retain its current sheriff.

According to election results from the County Clerk’s Office, Republican challenger TerriLois Mashburn has defeated longtime Register of Deeds Stacy Driscoll, who is a Democrat.

The unofficial results show that Mashburn received 17,782 votes and Driscoll received 17,486 votes. The numbers reflect vote totals that were updated Wednesday with votes from additional advance ballots.

There may still be additional advance ballots as well as provisional ballots that can be counted in the race.

The county’s election results will be certified Nov. 16.

Driscoll has served as the register of deeds for 20 years. She currently is the only Democrat serving in elected office within the county government.

Leavenworth County Sheriff Andy Dedeke was elected to a third term Tuesday.

Dedeke, a Republican, defeated Democratic challenger Kent Leintz by vote margin of 20,450 to 15,093, according to the unofficial results from the County Clerk’s Office.
