Christopher (Chris) V. Herken, 56, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on August 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.

Christopher (Chris) V. Herken, 56, of Leavenworth, Kansas passed away on August 19, 2016 at home surrounded by his family.
Chris was born on October 1, 1959 in Winchester, Kansas to Kenneth Leon and Vernetta Ann (Davis) Herken. Chris attended Pleasant Ridge High School and graduated in 1977.
Chris married Pamela Kindle on May 22, 1982 in Easton Kansas. They had two children, Matthew and Kyle.  
Chris enjoyed being outdoors and gardening. One would find Chris tinkering on anything mechanical and repairing it. He enjoyed watching the KC Royals, but his most enjoyable time was spending time with his grandchildren.
Chris is survived by Pam Herken, sons Matthew (April) Herken and Kyle (J) Herken, brothers Jeff (Marsha) Herken, Kirk (Tammy) Herken, and Kenny Herken, sisters Anne (Harry) Felzke, Michelle (Darrell) Seever and sister-in-law Janet Sears, four grandchildren, Madison, Nathaniel, Landon and Isabelle.  
He was preceded in death by his parents and grandparents.
Visitation will be at Belden Larkin Funeral Home on Thursday, August 25 from 3 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m., with a rosary said at 7 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday, August 26 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church, Father Mathew Francis, officiating in Easton Kansas at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Kickapoo Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to the Kansas Hospice or St. Lawrence Catholic Church.
The family would like to thank Chris’ nurses Jennifer, Jane and the countless other individuals who cared for Chris over the last five years.  As well as Kansas Hospice for their support the last few months.
