Mrs. Alma Lillian (Krey) Strohm, 95, a resident of Santa Marta Retirement Community, Olathe, Kansas, died peacefully at her residence, Tuesday, September 6, 2016.
She was born June 5, 1921, Wagner, South Dakota to August and Gonder Krey. She graduated as Valedictorian from Manhattan High School, 1938; and magna cum laude from St. Mary’s College, Leavenworth, 1969.
Alma married David F. Strohm, Oct. 2, 1943 at Jefferson Barracks, St. Louis, Missouri.
Dave’s 26 year military career took them to 12 different locations, and their family grew to include four children: David A., Martha, Peter and Diane.
Throughout their 50 years of married life, their complete, unconditional love and devotion for each other was obvious to all who knew them. Dave passed away in 1993. Alma ‘gathered her wits about her’ and continued her life on earth, faithfully following the Lord’s Guidance.
Alma was also preceded in death by her parents, her brother Norman, and her sister Naomi Worthman.
She is survived by her children Col (Ret.) David A. Strohm, Overland Park Kansas; Martha A. Morey, Billings, Montana; Peter F. Strohm, Federal Way, Washington; and Diane M. Harried, Lenexa, Kansas; 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren (so far).
The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, September 9, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Leavenworth, Kansas. Burial will be next to her husband in Leavenworth National Cemetery.  Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Assoc. or St. Paul’s Lutheran School, Leavenworth. Arrangements entrusted to Davis Funeral Chapel. Condolences may be left on Alma’s online guestbook at www.davisfuneralchapelinc.com
